introduction to information security expertise center

Information Security Expertise Center is a new organisation created under the tutelage of the Romanian Ministry of Communication and Information Technology as part of the National Institute for Research and Development in Informatics (ICI - Bucharest). The organisation aims at creating a solid research center for information, equipment, network and system security and tries to focus both the IT&C specialists and the autorities on the security of virtual environment in Romania.

The Expertise Center has been created as a core for the future development of CERT type (Computer Emergency Response Team) structures in Romania.

 

What is CERT ?

CERT is a community of computer emergency response teams aswell as a cooperation environment for any other team specialised in preventing/dealing with major events occured in communication system and networks.
CERT-RO is a an information framework for all users of the IT&C systems, from which they can gather usefull information on security threats in order to solve their security issues.
CERT-RO does not override the government role in the IT&C environment and does not make rules for the players on this market. Yet, it is a meeting point and a discussion board for any social group with interests in information and network security.
